That Moroccan Food Truck

Moroccan Food Van, for real.

On the corner of Indianola and Weber roads, in the lot of the Savor Grill, you find not just one but two food trucks.

The Gyro truck has been there a long time. The Moroccan truck is newly arrived. The fellas running the joints seem to be collegial. One borrowed some ingredients from the other and the Gyro guy was strongly recommending the Moroccan man’s food. In part due to his recommendation I scooted myself the Moroccan truck and ordered.

I got the Beef and Vegetable stew on Cous Cous. I was intrigued by other things on the menu, eggplant and tomato side dish in particular, but I just got the one thing.

It was spectacular. Mind you I’m a fan of well stewed vegetables. In the dish were big pieces of acorn squash, whole brussels sprouts, chunks of zucchini, a wedge of rutabaga (I think) and big chunks of beef.

So Good.

The flavors are cinnamon, coriander, cumin and more. Rather a sweet curry, in the sense of curry means many spices. It was delicious. The cous cous was fluffy too.

I’m going to head back to get more things shortly, but seriously head to the corner to get some good grub.

BTW, the Gyro truck was out of Lamb at 6pm on a Wednesday. He seems fairly popular. While we waited for our food in 15 minutes 5 more people came up to order. I’m guessing he’ll have more inventory on hand in the future, but I’d recommend going early for dinner.

Each truck has their own menu and handles money transactions separately. While it looks like they take cards, use cash when you can with food truck businesses. Just because it’s nicer. Don’t forget to tip.
